Olympic Sports Day

Everybody loved having the Olympics in London this summer, so we held our own version:

 "Studio Olympics"!

Our students competed for gold medals in a range of athletic events, following a custom designed Olympic warm up lead by our highly talented and sporty AO, Joe.

Once their muscles were properly stretched and warmed up, the events began.

To kick off proceedings, the students raced against each other in a 100m Sprint, the top six athletes vying for gold following two intense semi-final heats!

Following this, it was then time for the Olympic Relay event- students were put into groups of four, and cheered on by the less competitive students, flourished their batons across the finish line.

After the intensity of the opening races, it was time for some less conventional events... students formed pairs and using some specially designed cloth bags as leg ties, set themselves up for event number three:
THE THREE-LEGGED RACE!

Lining up for the whistle...

 Our happy gold winners!

After such strenuous shows of athleticism and teamwork, the next event allowed the students to rest a little, and demonstrate their impressive ball skills. Stoically Joe took up position in the goal, whilst heat after heat of students took aim in the Penalty Event. Once the student missed a penalty, they were dropped from the competition(- a rule that we foolishly thought would limit the length of proceedings).

Unfortunately, between Joe's lack of goalie skills/ the admirable talent of the students, the penalties became ferociously competitive!

Refreshed and rejuvenated, it was time for the students to embark on their last athletic event:
THE WHEELBARROW RACE!

Again, the students were paired up and after a short demonstration, formed themselves into Olympic Wheelbarrows... It was certainly an amusing sight to behold!

On their marks....

After the final event to demonstrate their Olympic flexibility in the Limbo, it was time to present the winning students with their very own Cadbury medals, and prizes.

All our happy Studio Olympians!
